Tiger Trailers is doubling the size of its stand at this year’s CV Show, enabling it to showcase two new double deck trailers – including the UK’s first 52-pallet straight frame double deck trailer to feature a full-length moving deck.
The design – a first in the industry and the subject of several pending patent applications – features a full length moving deck ‘basket’ which is 2,425mm wide, allowing two UK pallets to be loaded side by side, creating a 52-pallet carrying capacity.
The new trailer features a unique deck design that can be raised and lowered by a Siamese-style ram system developed by Tiger’s R&D team – avoiding the need for industry-standard cables and pulleys, which are prone to breaking and seizing.
Tiger Trailers designed the full length double deck trailer using its Solidworks 3D CAD systems, before putting the design through a series of finite element analysis (FEA) stress tests. It also built trailer decks which were subjected to actual physical destruction tests, ensuring the new design would far exceed the maximum forces faced in road transport.
With capacity for 44-pallets, this double deck curtainsider features a three-quarter length moving deck, whilst also retaining the ability to operate as a straight frame trailer for very tall cargo. This ensures complete flexibility for the customer’s operation, both now and into the future.
It is also constructed with Tiger Trailers’ hallmark hot-dip galvanised chassis, to provide maximum protection against rust and corrosion over a long life in service.
