Skillweb has rebranded its item tracking solution, previously known under the SmartTask POD and Houndit brands, as part of its strategy to drive growth within the postal, parcel and distribution sectors. The launch of Skillweb Deliver coincides with the introduction of new functionality that will enable delivery businesses to better manage the end-to-end movement of goods, as well as support the continued expansion of online retail and cross-border fulfilment.
“Skillweb Deliver is the result of almost 20 years of experience transforming supply chain operations on behalf of leading postal, home delivery and logistics organisations in the UK and internationally,” explains Paul Ridden, CEO of Skillweb. “It is critical that we continue to evolve our software offering, so we can keep helping new and existing customers overcome the delivery challenges they face.”
An Amazon Logistics-compatible API will now enable Skillweb Deliver to seamlessly integrate internet retail platforms with a parcel operation. By dynamically sharing electronic data – including pre-advice, tracking and billing information – companies will be able to simplify and streamline operational processes, improve revenue protection and extend their range of delivery options. Using a new cross-border fulfilment module, the system will also support frictionless customs clearance and international movements to significantly reduce costs, avoid delays and further enhance customer communications.
In addition, SmartTask Deliver will include an Augmented Reality (AR) loading function that utilises the Scandit barcode scanning engine. This added functionality will allow delivery businesses to increase loading efficiency and improve operator engagement by identifying the correct items during the loading process.
“The combination of these new features will enable delivery businesses to provide bespoke options to consumers, while managing the impact these services are having on item handling throughout the network. Skillweb Deliver is fully-customisable and hosted in the cloud, so this advanced software solution possesses the flexibility to meet precise supply chain requirements. As a result, postal, parcel and distribution operators can optimise and enhance end-to-end delivery to save costs, generate more revenue and enhance customer service, while operating responsibly,” concludes Ridden.
As part of the rebranding process, Skillweb has launched a new website, which will provide useful guidance on how to manage deliveries better, including case studies for a number of leading logistics businesses.
