Maritime Transport Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to the Scania brand with orders for a total of 330 tractor units for delivery during 2019/20. Two-hundred-and-sixty trucks are now scheduled for delivery before the year end, with a further 70 due to enter service with the Felixstowe-based operator in 2020. The orders will be fulfilled by TruckEast, Scania’s dealer for East Anglia, and comprise of 30 410-horsepower R 410 4×2 models and 300 450-horsepower R 450 6×2/2 mid-lift units. All 330 trucks will be equipped with Highline cabs and Scania’s fully-automated Opticruise gear-selection system.

“Maritime and Scania have enjoyed a long and healthy relationship at all levels, and we are pleased to be continuing our association into 2020 and beyond,” comments Stuart Wardlaw, Fleet Director for Maritime Transport. “The growth of our business, in addition to the fuel performance and overall reliability of the Scania product, has enabled us to place a significant order with the manufacturer and we look forward to putting these vehicles to work across our extensive depot network.”

The new trucks will be based around Maritime Transport’s 31 depots nationwide. The 4x2s will be used for distribution work, with the 6×2/2s running on both container and distribution operations. The vehicles will be kept for a minimum of five years, during which time they will average 1.2 million kilometres per vehicle per annum. All 330 trucks are being supplied with two year Scania repair and maintenance programmes, after which Maritime Transport will continue to use the services of the Scania network for its repair and maintenance requirements.
