Gates has been chosen to design and suppl Auxiliary Belt Drive Systems on DAF’s Euro 6 engines increases.
The award has extended an Original Equipment (OE) partnership that began when DAF switched to Gates, after the vehicle manufacturer ran into problems with ABDS systems supplied by a competitor company for XF 105, XF 95 and CF 85 model ranges (all Euro 5 engines):
“That switch enabled DAF to observe our ability to resolve issues on Heavy-Duty (HD) Euro 5 engines and to experience our ability to deliver total quality OE solutions. It helped to build a partnership that continues with Euro 6. Our solutions for the new MX-11 and MX-13 engines confirm DAF’s reputation for building reliable trucks,” says Gates.
Seven of the world’s leading HD truck manufacturers (DAF, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes Benz, Renault, Scania and Volvo) are now able to rely on Gates ABDS technology. OE success is the platform for Gates aftermarket strategy.
Gates has pioneered the move to all-in-one aftermarket solutions for the HD market and this additional DAF OE success has led to an extension of the Gates Micro-V Extra Service range.
Five (5) new DriveAlign tensioners & idlers and nine (9) new all-in-one Gates MicroV Extra Service Kits have been added for DAF MX-11 and MX-13 engines.
These cover models in both the CF (distribution) and XF (long haul) model ranges. This extension brings the total number of available Gates Micro-V Extra Service Kits to 93, although DriveAlign Tensioners, Micro-V Belts and idlers are available as separate items.
