The Freight Transport Association Ireland (FTAI) has recently launched three Covid-19 related online training courses that are unique to the Transport and Logistics sectors, which are now available to book through its website www.ftai.ie.

“The three courses Covid-19 Worker Representative Training, Covid-19 Driver Induction Training and Covid-19 General Induction Training are are designed with accessibility and affordability in mind,” Aidan Flynn, general Manager, FTAI said.

He continued: “Protecting the safety of the workforce is the priority of all businesses within the logistics sector. To help employers and employees understand their legal obligations under the government’s ‘Return to Work Safely’ protocol, FTA Ireland has launched its new online courses.”

These courses will help to ensure businesses are able to kickstart their operations as efficiently and swiftly as possible, and, most importantly, contain the spread of COVID-19 through effective and safe working practices.

Covid-19 Worker Representative Training

Covid-19 Driver Induction Training

All employees must be provided with training and guidance on the new COVID-19 protocols to minimise the risk of spread of the virus. It is incumbent on all employers to ensure the safety of their workforce but also that of contractors and visitors to their sites.

Employers must:

• Establish and issue a pre-return to work form for workers to complete at least 3 days in advance of the return to work.

• Provide induction training for all workers.

• Put in place of the necessary controls identified in the risk assessment to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.
