DAF Trucks has won a high-profile IT award for its 3D DAF Truck Configurator. The web tool won the 2018 Computable Award, hosted by one of Europe’s biggest IT magazines.
The configurator allows DAF customers to specify their ideal vehicle online and was voted for by a jury of IT experts as well as readers of Computable magazine. DAF’s award came in the ‘Digital Innovation of the Year’ category.
The 3D DAF Truck Configurator makes it possible to compose the best truck for any application. Two, three or four axles, single or double drive, a steered front or trailing rear axle, day, sleeper or extra spacious Space or Super Space Cab – every conceivable truck and chassis variant in the DAF line-up can be configured online.
“With the 3D Online Truck Configurator DAF is at the forefront of online truck configuration”, said Sander Hulsman, Chief Editor of Computablemagazine. “All available options are visible, including almost unlimited possibilities for the positioning of components, such as fuel tanks and battery carriers. It is unique that information is retrieved directly from the original CAD source files at DAF, instead of using standard images and files, as is usually the case with configurators.”
He continued: “This means 100 per cent accuracy. In addition, the 3D Truck Configurator offers the possibility to have a look at the specified truck in its smallest possible details – unique in the automotive industry.”
Richard Zink, DAF’s director of Marketing & Sales added: “We are always looking for ways to serve the market better. With the DAF 3D Truck Configurator, our customers can configure the most optimal truck, together with their bodybuilder and dealer if desired.”
