For the sixth year running, TIP Trailer Services has supported a 50-strong cycling team from the UK and Ireland transport industries to raise monies for two deserving charities, including the Stoke-based Donna Louise Trust and the world-famous Christie’s cancer hospital in Manchester.
Having raised over £250,000 for charity in the previous five years of this event, this year’s target was to beat 2018’s incredible achievement of £67,100.
The 50 cyclists will began a three-day cycle challenge in Portugal on May 22, starting in Faro, traversing along the south coast of Portugal and then headed north along the Atlantic coast. This years’ challenge contained 12,500 feet of climbing and covered more than 400 kms in three punishing days, eventually arriving in Lisbon on Friday May 24.
As usual, the team of cyclists was an eclectic mix of TIP employees, loyal customers and supportive partners.
TIP Trailer Services, Managing Director, Mike Furnival said: “Last year we raised an incredible £67,100 for Donna Louise Trust to help build a much-needed additional wing for their facility in Stoke. This year we will be splitting the proceeds 50/50 between the Donna Louise Trust and Christie’s, to support the wonderful work they both provide.
Mike continued: “We have had fantastic support from all corners of the transport industry, supplying both team members and much needed sponsorship. We would like to sincerely thank all contributors and welcome all donations for two charities needing external support for the successful running of their operations.”
